Eight talented juniors gathered in Barcelona to discuss and work in hot topics in economics last June

The Meetings on Economic Perspectives aim to put in contact young researchers working in Barcelona with a group of young researchers in worldwide universities, sharing a relevant modern topic for Economics. Jon X. Egia (New York University), Raphaël Giraud (Université Franche-Comté), Yusufcan Masatlioglu (University of Michigan), Neslihan Uler (University of Michigan) have visited MOVE and the UAB for three weeks, participating in several activities that concluded with the I Meeting on Economics Perspectives. 1st Economic Perspectives Meeting

The 1st Meeting on Economic Perspectives examined a number of issues concerning the rationality of Individuals in their economic decisions. The sessions were opened by Director Salvador Barberà (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and MOVE), who presented a paper on how individuals value flexibility at the moment of choice and motivated the relevance of rationality topics for Economics. Worldwide invited participants of the meeting:
    Jon X. Egia (New York University). His main interest is on Political Economy, and his works include the cognitive nature of the political spectrum. In the meeting, he presented an application of bounded rationality models to the financial market.

    Raphaël Giraud (Université Franche-Comté). His main interest is on Individual Decision-Making, and his works include axiomatic foundations of bounded rationality models. In the meeting, he presented a model describing the endowment effect.

    Yusufcan Masatlioglu (University of Michigan). His main interest is on Individual Decision-Making, and his works include theoretical foundations of non-rational decisions. In the meeting, he presented a model of choice through search.

    Neslihan Uler (University of Michigan). His main interest is on Experimental Economics and her works include the experimental analysis of individual decisions. In the meeting, she presented a study on the Status Quo Effect.

Local invited participants of the meeting: 

    Jose Apesteguia (Universitat Pompeu Fabra). His main interest is on Individual Decision-Making and his works include the study of theoretical foundations of non-rational decisions. In the meeting, he presented a study on the measurement of rationality.

    Miguel A. Ballester (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and MOVE). His main interest is on Individual Decision-Making and his works include the study of theoretical foundations of non-rational decisions. In the meeting, he presented a study on sequential processes of choice.

    Caterina Calsamiglia (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). Her main interest is on welfare analysis and her works include empirical and theoretical studies on individual welfare. In the meeting, she presented a study on a nonparametric approach to applied welfare analysis.

    Daniela Iorio (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). Her main interest is on Health Economics and her works include the study of the nature and the impact of Individual Decisions on Health. In the meeting, she presented a study on Bulimia Nervosa.
